Our Experience
Save up to 50% of energy costs
Free up capacity
Defer capital spend on new compressors
Reduce noise pollution in the factory
Compressed air systems often consume up to 7% of electricity use in manufacturing, or even over 30% in shipyards. In addition, the efficiency is rarely monitored, energy is nearly 80% of total compressor operating costs, and compressed air is easily wasted. This makes them a great target for energy savings.
There is a good opportunity to:
- Save energy costs by up to 50%
- Free up capacity
- Defer capital spend on new compressors
- Reduce noise pollution in the factory
Compressed air systems can be generally separated into Supply-Side and Demand-side.
Optimising the supply-side means a focus on generating the compressed air at the right quality (dryness, particulates), the right pressure, and for the least energy possible at all flow conditions. Important things to consider are Compressor types, ongoing monitoring, and system controls.
Optimising the demand-side means ensuring the air is not wasted through leaks, unecessary pressure losses, ‘artificial demand’ or using it inappropriately.
Compressd air systems are simple to set up and run, but much more challenging to run well.
What Can We Help You With
We can help you optimise the Supply side and advise on how to:
- Maintain your system
- Optimise your pressure controls
We can also help you to optimise the demand side:
- Reduce artificial demand
- Reduce leaks
- Reduce inappropriate use and waste of compressed air
We advise on
- New compressors and dryer selection
- Capacity assessment
- Piping design changes
- End user equipment substitution
Northmore Gordon has benchmarked the performance for over 30 compressed air systems, and can offer:
- Power vs flow measurement and benchmarking
- Specification and Verification of meter readings, meter type, and installation
- Comparison to best practice and reference sites
